A few more rambles through Adelaide city center brought us to a number of sights which increased our appreciation of the city, as well as our waistlines. One of the worst offenders on the latter count was the colorful Central Market, where we assembled a delicious if disjointed lunch consisting of vegetable pancakes, stuffed grape leaves, vegetable piroshky, chick pea salad, and the oxymoronic dish of fried sushi. The adjacent Chinatown offered other temptations but we were already as stuffed as those grape leaves.
Another day we toured the Haigh Chocolate Factory. Samples were included and we didn’t want to offend by refusing. Nearby was a small but beautiful Japanese garden. We also walked kilometer after kilometer in search of a particular street full of big fancy houses that we whizzed by on a previous tour but, not knowing the name of the street or having an accurate map of this specific area, we were not successful. Still, we saw some attractive neighborhoods and justified a leisurely lunch at a nice Indian restaurant. Deborah is convinced I have taken out an insurance policy on her and am actively trying to walk her to death.
